Whether it’s a set of plush percale bed sheets, a crisp white tablecloth, or a fresh linen shower curtain, the addition of a contrasting inset is the perfect way to elevate and infuse subtle charm to otherwise clean and simple textiles throughout the home.
The Technique
With the help of specialized sewing machines our skilled seamstresses make sure each finished product is perfect and the inset is in the right place. On pillow shams, an inset is often placed along the flange hem while our pillowcases showcase the inset along a cuff hem. On duvet covers we use a U-shaped framing technique so that the inset follows the frame of the mattress. In the bath, we reserve most of our inset options for shower curtains and guest hand towels with embellishment added along the cuff hem. For all of our table linens–from napkins to placemats to tablecloths–we add insets along the hem.
In our US-based factory, we embellish many of our linen collections with a wide range of insets. Incorporating an inset along the cuff or edges of fabric is one of our favorite ways to embellish smooth textiles in the home while avoiding areas that frequently rub against the body. From linen appliqués to lace to bordering satin stitching, our range of design options varies in design, color and material making it possible to enhance all of your bed, bath and table linens.
